The Gypsum Association announces the 2004 industry design and construction awards program, "Excellence in Gypsum Board Design and Construction," that will honor project teams that incorporate innovative gypsum board applications in residential and nonresidential construction.

"The 2003 awards program proved yet again that there are countless ways to use gypsum board to create interesting and unique architectural features," said Michael Gardner, executive director of the Gypsum Association. "We received numerous entries that were quite imaginative. Some were very bold and majestic; others were artistic and elegant. We look forward to seeing that same creative genius exhibited by the design community and the building community for the 2004 awards program. We invite architects, general contractors, and drywall contractors to submit their most interesting gypsum board projects for this year's competition."

Awards include $3,000 cash prizes and plaques for both the residential and the nonresidential winning team. Plaques are also awarded to the honorable mention award winners.

Entries are judged on project-wide use of gypsum board in innovation, complexity, overall effect, and quality of workmanship. To be eligible for consideration in the 2004 program, entry materials should be submitted to the GA by January 31, 2005. The Association is offering an early entry bonus of $250 to the first 25 qualified entrants. Entries must be received by November 30, 2004, to qualify for the early entry bonus.
