Chicago area residents to be protected by NFPA safety codes and standards
The North Maine Fire Protection District, serving approximately 30,000 residents in unincorporated Cook County in Maine Township (a suburban area northwest of Chicago) has adopted the 2003 editions of NFPA 1, Uniform Fire Code and NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, the 2002 edition of NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm Code, and the 2002 edition of NFPA 13, Standard for Installation of Sprinkler Systems, as part of the district's Fire Prevention Codes. The district also has chosen to reference a chapter of NFPA 5000, Building Construction and Safety Code.
