EIMA defended the EIFS industry and its products in a lengthy story on EIFS litigation in the March 31 issue of the Washington Post. The story sought to portray EIFS as a problematic wall cladding that has been the subject of hundreds of homeowner suits in the Washington area. In its defense of EIFS, EIMA said the cladding has been unfairly singled out for a problem not of its making--a general decline in the quality of residential construction and lax enforcement of building codes.

In other news, the association is in contact with four insurance organizations that have expressed interest in providing insurance for contractors and expects to have a program in place by mid to late summer.
