According to statistics complied by the Gypsum Association, the United States gypsum board industry shipped a total of 8.369 billion square feet of material during the first three months of 2004. During that same period, Canadian manufacturers shipped 846 million square feet of material.

Combined U.S. and Canadian gypsum board manufacturing capacity allows the industry to produce sufficient quantities of gypsum panel products to meet the demands of the residential and non-residential construction markets in North America.
