The two-hour memorial service was highlighted by a eulogy given by Jill Surrency, George's daughter. Many references were made about Surrency's lust for life and his no-regrets attitude. Most in the industry will remember him for his large frame, his jovial laugh and his caring attitude towards family, friends and colleagues.
Representing the walls and ceilings industry at the funeral was Philip Rizzo, previous general manager of Sun Contruction, Paula Graham, advertising sales manager of Walls & Ceilings, as well as several previous employees and colleagues.
Surrency is survived by his wife, Nancy, and children Jill, Robby, Candy with husband Jim, and Raymond with wife Billie. Candy and Jim's daughter Reagan was the apple of Surrency's eye. A sister, brother and nieces and nephews also survive. Memorials may be made in Surrency's honor to the College of Arts and Sciences or the College of Design Construction and Planning, c/o University of Florida Foundation, P.O.
