The 3N1 Performance Mortar formulation combines the advantages of latex modified, medium bed and non-sag mortars into a single, easy-to-use solution. It is also extremely lightweight, available in 30-pound bags that deliver the same amount of coverage as a 50-pound bag of traditional latex modified mortar. Company research shows that universal mortars are typically easy to trowel but formulated for installing only common, 12-inch-by-12-inch tile. Medium bed or non-sag mortars, meanwhile, are well suited for large-format floor or wall tile but can be hard to trowel. In addition, standard mortars can be used for multiple types of installations but often require a change in application or mixing. The need for only one mortar rather than two means that contractors can reduce their mortar inventory. Being able to use the same mixing and application process for every installation means more productivity.
