National Gypsum and fungicide producer Syngenta have entered into a supply and branding partnership to incorporate Sporgard brand mold protection into National Gypsum’s Gold Bond XP family of gypsum board products.

The partnership marks the first entry into building materials protection for Syngenta, a global leader in agribusiness with the largest portfolio of mold control chemistry. Syngenta is developing Sporgard as a cross-category brand of mold protection for multiple types of building materials, including paints and coatings, insulation and engineered woods.

The companies plan to debut XP with Sporgard at the International Builders Show in Las Vegas in January.

“We are really pleased to introduce the Sporgard brand of mold control for building products in National Gypsum XP gypsum board,” said Christian Lippuner, head, Syngenta Materials Protection, NAFTA. “Mold and indoor air quality are of growing importance to builders and consumers. The Sporgard combination of fungicides provides the most sophisticated mold control technology available.”

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Sporgard is a combination of multiple mold inhibitors manufactured into the gypsum products to actively combat mold.
