America is weathering today's turbulent economy by identifying alternative
energy sources that help protect natural resource and reduce costs at the same
time. Environmental and Public Affairs Manager Steve Kidwell at the Sugar Creek
Cement Plant is using decomposing landfill waste-in the form of methane gas-and
other industrial byproducts to generate the plant’s energy while significantly
cutting down on the plant's carbon emissions and costs.

- Generates more than 60% of the plant's energy.
- Reduces the plant's coal consumption by 50,000 tons per year, the same as taking more than 6,629 cars off the roadways.
- Saves the plant money in a time when many cement companies are struggling with operation costs.
