Phillips Manufacturing Co. has acquired the assets of Steel Drum Industries LLC. SDI, located in Tampa, Fla., has fabricated cornerbead and trim products available for drywall corner finishing.

“Steel Drum Industries’ name will be transitioned to Phillips Manufacturing Co. and all Phillips family of brands will be available from this facility located in Tampa,” said Michelle Erickson, marketing manager.

“The acquisition of the manufacturing assets of SDI will afford us the opportunity to improve our service model and product offerings to all of our customers and potential customers in the Southeast,” President and CEO George Kubat told Walls & Ceilings.

Phillips has been servicing customers in Florida for many years and this acquisition will help grow that business and improve the company’s service model in the Southeastern United States, the company said in a press release. Phillips will expand and enhance the product offering out of the current location at: 5820 West Linebaugh Avenue in Tampa.

So will SDI customers see a lag-time in service or expect a seamless transition? “We have planned and stocked the facility for a seamless transition,” Rich Hitchens, vice president of sales, told W&C.

“We will continue to provide the same quality products and services as SDI, plus offer our greater depth of products and technical support,” said Kubat told the magazine.
