Simpson Strong-Tie has again joined other industry associations and organizations in supporting the International Code Council’s “2013 Building Safety Month” in May. As a Supporting Sponsor, the manufacturer is encouraging the industry and the general public to learn more about ways to make buildings, homes and decks safe and strong.

Building Safety Month is a public awareness campaign during May to help individuals, families and businesses understand what it takes to create and sustain safe and sustainable structures. As an annual event, this year’s theme is “Code Officials Keep You Safe.” The four-week campaign focuses on key safety areas each week, including fire safety and awareness, disaster safety and mitigation, backyard and pool safety, and energy and green building. The overall goal is to reinforce the need for adopting modern, model building codes as well as implementing strong and efficient code enforcement. “Simpson Strong-Tie structural products help people build safer, stronger homes, buildings and decks,” said Terry Kingsfather, president of Simpson Strong-Tie. “We’re proud to support Building Safety Month and the work that code officials do every day to ensure structures are well built and safe.”

As a sponsor, Simpson Strong-Tie has several resources that help support the initiatives of Building Safety Month, including educational materials about designing and building homes and buildings to resist earthquakes and high winds as well as building and retrofitting code-compliant outdoor decks. These resources can be found on the Building Safety Month website and the Simpson Strong-Tie® homeowner website, SafeStrongHome.com.
