Icynene has broadened the application possibilities of its renewably-based Icynene LD-R-50 for suitability in commercial projects following the release of the product’s latest ICC-ES ESR report.
The ESR report expands the possible exterior wall applications to include Type I-IV for commercial projects in addition to the product’s existing approval for Type V exterior wall use. The approval now means that Icynene LD-R-50 maintains the same commercial approvals to the manufacturer’s chief open-cell product Icynene Classic.
“Together with the ICC-ES, [the company] conducted a series of analyses, including NFPA 285,259,286 and ASTM E119, for suitability in commercial projects opening up the range of possibilities for commercial architects and builders looking to create greener and more sustainable structures. This castor oil-based open-cell spray foam is now comparable with our Icynene Classic product,” said Vice President Engineering Paul Duffy.
In addition to the ICC-ES report, the green product has been approved by IAPMO ES, as well as the NAHB Research Centre as a “Green Approved” product. LD-R-50 features castor oil which is considered a renewable product since production of castor beans has low energy dependence and does not require pesticides, fungicides or man-made irrigation.
