The Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute will host a webinar on “Back to Basics—A Review of AISI S100 Compression Member Design Provisions” on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 3:00 PM Eastern Time. The webinar will cover the applicable AISI S100 and S211 design provisions for compression members. It will include a review of overall buckling, local buckling, distortional buckling, and the applicable combinations of these limit states, as well as a discussion on bracing considerations for achieving overall stability.
The webinar will benefit architects, engineers, building officials and contractors. It will be based on information contained in AISI S100, North American Specification for the Design of Cold-Formed Steel Structural Members and AISI S211, North American Standard for Cold-Formed Steel Framing—Wall Stud Design. Participants are eligible for 1.5 continuing education units.
The presenter is Roger A. LaBoube, Ph.D., P.E., the curator’s teaching professor emeritus of civil engineering and director of the Wei-Wen Yu Center for Cold-Formed Steel Structures at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. Dr. LaBoube has an extensive background in the design and behavior of cold-formed steel structures. He is a member of the American Iron and Steel Institute’s Committee on Specifications and the AISI Committee on Framing Standards. More information on the webinar and registration details are available at www.cfsei.org.
