The Gypsum Association has announced that Stephen H. Meima has assumed the position of deputy executive director/chief operating officer.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with Gypsum Association Executive Director Michael Gardner, the Board of Directors and committees, and the staff to promote the value and sustainability of gypsum board and gypsum panel products,” Meima said. “I am, indeed, eager to help advance the development, growth, and general welfare of the gypsum industry in the U.S. and Canada.”
Meima brings relevant experience and expertise to the Gypsum Association. He comes to the Gypsum Association from the Design-Build Institute of America where he was the head of marketing and membership. Previous to DBIA, he spent 12 years with global building materials supplier Lafarge, where he served in marketing and communications leadership roles with a purview of the U.S. and Canada. At Lafarge, he worked closely with design professionals and the trades providing education on product use, systems and sustainable building concepts and strategies.
Meima recently earned a LEED Green Associate accreditation to enhance his ability to serve building professionals. Prior to Lafarge, from 1996 to 1999, Meima served as Director of Promotion for the Gypsum Association. Meima holds an MBA from Marymount University and an Accreditation in Public Relations from the Public Relations Society of America.
“This position will contribute significantly to the Gypsum Association’s ability to meet the challenges of representing a building materials industry as the economy continues to recover,” said Gardner. “Steve’s strong industry background and his experience in sustainability issues impart a substantial talent to our organization.”
