The Stucco Manufacturers Association announced that its current Executive Director Norma Fox is retiring at the end of this year. The association has contracted with Mark Fowler to be the replacement. Fox has led the association for almost 20 years.
The SMA is a national trade organization that was established in 1957 and represents manufacturers, dealers and contractors for the plaster and stucco industry. The association has a history of promotion, technical bulletins and being an advocate for the entire plaster industry.
“The … Board of Directors believes Fowler will help take the SMA to the next level. We are in competitive cladding industry and we need to step up our game, we think this is a step in the right direction.” said Kevin Wensel, current President of the SMA and with Omega Products International.
Fowler has been the editorial director for Walls & Ceilings since 2006, written bulletins papers, manuals and standards development for lath and plaster. He has also held positions with the NWCB and WWCCA, and been a project manager for a Seattle architecture firm specializing in building exteriors.
“With a long history in lath, plaster, building envelopes, marketing and code compliance, we felt Mark Fowler was the best choice to lead the SMA into the future,” said Buck Buchanan SMA board member and senior vice president of Marketing and Supply Chain with Parex USA.
