Firestone Building Products Co., a manufacturer and supplier of a comprehensive “Roots to Rooftops” product portfolio, introduced an all-inclusive guide to help customers navigate the best green products for LEED Version 4 requirements. Green building professionals can download the guide online.

Spanning the full portfolio of green products – from energy-saving polyiso insulations to reflective TPO membranes and vegetative roofing solutions – the guide specifies how Firestone products can help minimize environmental impact while maximizing building value. It’s the first time the company has created an all-inclusive resource for products that earn LEED credits. The guide will also contain a quick-reference page that can be separated for on-the-go access.

When the U.S. Green Building Council announced the launch of LEED Version 4 in early 2016, building and design professionals called it the most comprehensive overhaul in the program’s 18-year history. Among other changes, the new LEED requirements emphasize performance-based measurements, energy efficient standards and demand more transparency from building materials.

“The guide will help inform our customers about the new qualifications, as well as provide assistance on specifying Firestone products that can earn the most LEED credits for a project,” said Lori Jones, product stewardship manager at Firestone Building Products. “Our company strives to be an environmental leader, from educating customers on the latest developments to creating products that integrate sustainability practices during material selection and throughout their lifecycles.”

Building professionals can learn about the guide, as well as the following products:

  • SkyScape Vegetative Roof Systems include modular, extensive, semi-intensive and intensive green roof systems including regionalized growing media blends and plants for a variety of design possibilities. All systems are easy to install, lightweight and meet or exceed major stormwater management and wind uplift criteria for commercial buildings.
  • Enverge Cavity Wall Products were developed specifically to meet building envelope thermal performance requirements. The portfolio is comprised of continuous insulation (CI) (available in two facer options: coated fiberglass mat facer and aluminum foil facer); an air and vapor barrier; and thru-wall flashing to impede thermal bridging.
