Illinois’ Blue Ridge Fiberboard will showcase three new Soundstop acoustical shielding products that reduce sound transfer from room to room at the upcoming NAHB International Builders’ Show. Sound-Abate, Renovation and Stomp will be unveiled in booth W6686 at the event, taking place January 10-12 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
“As a leading construction industry provider of roofing, sheathing and soundproofing products, we are anxiously anticipating the debut of these new products at the International Builders’ Show,” stated Mike Taylor, director of sales and marketing for BRF.
Sound-Abate is designed for wall cavity applications, and dampens sound and blocks noise by up to 75 percent. Following in the tradition of Soundstop brand products, it provides a continuous sound barrier to curtail sound transfer through studs and the wall cavity. Made with recycled acoustical grade polymer, it improves HVAC efficiency and is mold and mildew resistant. It also meets acceptance of the ASTM one-hour fire test and other ASTM recommended guidelines, including the thermal resistance minimum. Since it is easy to install, labor and production costs are greatly reduced.
Renovation was developed for retrofit wall applications. Installed with an adhesive—like wallpaper—it acts as a sound, air and moisture barrier to reduce noise from neighbor to neighbor, room to room and outside in. Having passed the ASTM fire and smoke test, it meets those interior standards and has an R value of => .3.
Stomp is used for floor applications and, like the other two new products, offers great value for single and multi-family homeowners and commercial property owners. Installed under carpet, tile, vinyl, wood, laminate and resilient flooring, it is manufactured from highly engineered and recycled polymer sound abatement material primarily used in the automobile industry for the last 30-plus years. Unique to the industry, it is a minimum five times heavier than other underlayment and offers superior sound transmission and impact noise reduction. Mold and mildew resistant, it was tested and successfully meets a variety of ASTM standards.
