Brooklyn-based, national appliance leader AJ Madison has furthered its commitment to environmental initiatives and the New York community through a new partnership with Habitat for Humanity New York City. The brand will use its comprehensive haulaway service to recycle gently used appliances through Habitat for Humanity’s New York City ReStore, which sells home products to the public with proceeds benefitting Habitat NYC’s mission: to transform lives and communities by building and preserving quality, affordable homes with families in need. AJ Madison’s appliance recycling program and partnership with Habitat NYC further solidifies the brand’s dedication to the local New York community, striving to build a stronger, greener, and more affordable city for all.

“Giving back to the community is at the core of our AJ Madison culture,” said Michael Gross,

President of AJ Madison. “We’re thrilled to breathe new life into gently used appliances through eco-friendly recycling to benefit Habitat for Humanity NYC instead of ending up in a landfill. It’s a win-win for everyone – less waste, accessible, affordable appliances for every budget and funding to build new homes in the local community.”

AJ Madison will kick-start this program by updating its current haul-away service, which has long offered the convenient removal of old customer appliances for new purchases. While still removing all old appliances in any condition, AJ Madison will now recycle those that are lightly used or repairable and donate them to Habitat NYC’s ReStore.

Habitat for Humanity operates over 1,000 ReStores across the country, national nonprofit donation centers selling new and gently used furniture, appliances, building materials and more to the public at a discounted price. The sales revenue generated from ReStores goes towards Habitat for Humanity’s funding to build new homes in the local community and around the world. Habitat for Humanity’s New York City ReStore, through which AJ Madison will recycle its eligible haul-away product, is located in Queens with over 20,000 square feet of space perfectly suited for appliances.

“We are so grateful for the generous partnership of AJ Madison,” said Karen Haycox, CEO of

Habitat for Humanity New York City. “By donating their products to our ReStore, AJ Madison is giving budget-conscious New Yorkers the chance to own high-quality appliances at accessible prices, and helping to divert tons of waste from landfills. They are also contributing to our mission to build and preserve safe, decent and affordable housing for ownership by our neighbors in need.”

In addition to sourcing donations through its haul-away service, AJ Madison will work with its trade designer program and robust network of builders and contractors to increase their impact. The brand will use these connections to recycle not only appliances, but also gently used cabinetry or other items from kitchen remodels through the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. AJ Madison also plans to extend to the program to a national level in the future, using its local haul-away services and the Habitat for Humanity ReStores in markets across the country.

AJ Madison will kick off this partnership as part of Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore Anniversary Sale on September 15-16 and with the Habitat House Party on October 17.
