High-strength steel with enhanced formability has been developed that will be used in the Viper20 drywall stud and track metal framing line of products.

Testing for limiting heights, screw pullout, pullover, shear and spin-out on the new 70ksi (Type NS), .019” design thickness Viper20 steel line of products has been completed. ICC-ES has validated code compliance of the new Viper20 product in the newly revised ICC-ES code compliance report. Additional testing with all major brands of high-impact wallboard has also been conducted and will be included in the new catalog. The manufacturing facility conversions for the new Viper20 drywall stud and track product line will be complete in the first quarter of 2018. The current iteration of 57 ksi Viper20 will continue to be available during the transition time and will be sold as Viper20D.
