During summer, Camp Southern Ground hosts guests for week-long residential camps. For the remaining weeks of the year, CSG supports military and veteran families, and partners with organizations that host programs at its state-of-the-art facility. Additionally, the facility can be leased for retreats, corporate events and galas.
As an inclusive camp, CSG serves children ages seven to 17, from all socio-economic backgrounds, races and religions, with programs that challenge, educate and inspire its attendees. The organization brings together typically developing children, children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning and attention issues such as ADHD and dyslexia, and social or emotional challenges. It also supports and include children of military families as a vital part of its camper population.
Mission-driven, CSG offers children a world-class campus in a beautiful natural setting, with programs that inspire children to magnify their gifts, enhance their perspectives of self, empower them to overcome limitations, and spread love to impact their world. With state-of-the-art buildings and outdoor spaces, Camp Southern Ground is a one-of-a-kind place of learning and growth designed with children of diverse abilities and skill sets in mind, and strives to become a timeless institution that is the cornerstone of research and innovation. Camp Southern Ground is registered non-profit, 501(c)(3).
Recently, the camp had some construction work done to the premises. Shortly after a product was installed on the camp’s Dining Hall, window leakage was discovered. Concerned about the possibility of repeating the problem, Metro Waterproofing sought the expertise of VaproShield in mitigating potential moisture-related issues for the next phase of the camp; Lodge One. Metro Waterproofing’s bid using VaproShield was accepted over both a competitive sheet good (basis of design) and a fluid applied system.
So, 14,000 square feet of WrapShield SA Self-Adhered was installed on Zac Brown’s Camp Southern Ground: Lodge One—a project located in the heart of Chattanooga, Tenn.
WrapShield SA Self-Adhered was installed under the guidance of VaproShield’s technical team. Additionally, Metro Waterproofing worked in careful coordination with the glazer to install stainless steel angles out to the window dry line — the windows were tested to the ASTM E 331 standard and passed with no leakage.
VaproFlashing SA, Vapro Liqui-Flash, VaproBond, and Vapro-SS Flashing, were then utilized to flash the building’s rough-openings, eliminating the need for untested third-party components and mitigating costly moisture damage. Kevin Meara of Metro Waterproofing praised VaproShield saying, “They provided us with superior support.”
