Almost 700 people were in attendance, as the Women Builders Council (WBC) honored Bomi Kim, Senior Vice President and Director of the New York City Economic Development Corporation’s (NYCED) Opportunity MWDBE program. Kim was presented with WBC’s 2019 Public Private Partnership award by Rich Cote, Executive Vice President of Hudson Meridian on May 7, 2019 at the Grand Hyatt New York, located in New York City.
WBC’s Public Private Partnership award is given to individuals are who are committed to connecting private sector companies with government programs and key decision makers to increase diversity and the role of women in the construction industry. Kim was recognized for her leadership in developing, implementing and managing New York City’s business development program for certified minority, women and disadvantaged business, entitled Opportunity MWDBE. Since its inception, the initiative has awarded over $112 million in prime and subcontracts to MWDBEs across New York City.
Cote, who previously worked with Kim during his tenure at NYCEDC remarked, “Bomi’s commitment to increasing diversity and the role of women in the construction industry, combined with her passion for creating economic opportunities for all New Yorkers makes her most deserving of this special honor. It was my pleasure to present a former colleague and friend with this prestigious award.”
