Smooth-On, Inc., based in Pennsylvania, announces that it has acquired Nelson A. Burke Co., LLC (The Engineer Guy) located in Atlanta, GA. Nelson A. Burke Co. was founded by Nelson Burke in 2002 and is a long-time distributor of Smooth-On materials and other products used by artists and industry for a variety of applications including making molds for thermoforming plastics, casting concrete, prototyping, making composite parts, creating movie special effects, professional-grade makeup and much more.

The Engineer Guy will become part of the Reynolds Advanced Materials distribution network, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Smooth-On, Inc. Reynolds - Atlanta will be the 12th Reynolds warehouse/retail location serving a major metropolitan area in the USA. All Reynolds locations offer product inventory and technical advice on silicones, urethanes, epoxies, plaster, concrete and other “Materials for Doing More” to companies and individuals at a local level, serving communities across America.

Nelson Burke has enjoyed a long, distinguished 40+ year career in selling and consulting on these materials with end users, including 14 years with what became known as GE Polymershapes. He left GE in 2001, started Nelson A. Burke Co. the following year, and developed the “The Engineer Guy” as a successful brand that has become well known to customers across the United States and several other countries.

Nelson will remain involved and active with Reynolds – Atlanta moving forward and states that, “this is the right move.
