PABCO Gypsum continues to expand its family of glass faced products with the launch of 5/8” PABCO GLASS Interior. With the addition of its fire-resistance rated glass mat panel, PABCO Gypsum now offers interior glass faced wallboard for extended moisture resistance for both commercial and residential applications. The new interior panel complements the company’s current glass faced product offering which includes 1/2” PABCO GLASS Interior, PABCO GLASS Sheathing and PABCO GLASS Shaftliner.
With the introduction of the 5/8” glass faced panel, contractors now have a full line of interior and exterior PABCO GLASS gypsum products to use on their commercial projects. “We’ve found through our research with contractors that they often prefer to use the same manufacturer’s wallboard for a specific project which helps reduce errors,” said Mike Willoughby, Vice President, PABCO Gypsum.
Further, as “pre-rock” construction continues to grow in popularity, the market demand for interior products with increased mold and moisture resistance over traditional paper faced products has greatly increased. PABCO GLASS Interior gypsum panels are specially formulated to withstand extended exposure under normal weather conditions up to one year, thus allowing for installation prior to full building enclosure.
PABCO GLASS Interior, with its mold and water-resistant gypsum core encased in a glass fiber mat, provides increased resistance to moisture compared to paper-faced gypsum board. The product scores a 10 for mold resistance, the highest rating when tested in accordance to ASTM D3273 Standard Test Method for Resistance to Growth of Mold on the Surface of Interior Coatings in an Environmental Chamber.
The naturally fire-resistant, 5/8” Type X proprietary gypsum core is also noncombustible, dimensionally stable, and resists warping, sagging and buckling. The glass faced panel can be finished and painted just like paper-faced gypsum board making the finishing process simple. When finished per GA-214 Recommended Levels of Board Finish, it will achieve the same desired finish level as paper faced products.
PABCO GLASS Interior 5/8” panels are available now to order and comparable to similar products on the market. “Many contractors prefer PABCO wallboard and are pleased to know that this product is now available,” says Willoughby.
“I have been in the trades for over 20 years and have installed various manufacturers’ gypsum panels,” says Frank Cadwell, Drywall/Taping Foreman, Tarlton and Son Inc., a frame-to-finish contractor in California. “When asked what brand of drywall I want on the job, PABCO is always the first choice. PABCO board cuts clean, snaps clean and is light and flexible.”
