Habitat for Humanity International is the largest non-profit builder in the world. The organization has built or repaired homes for close to 30 million families globally since its foundation in 1976 and continues to provide shelter and infrastructure for people in need in over 70 countries. Habitat runs various programs to alleviate the need for housing and relies on volunteers for labor and corporate donors for materials.
This year, Habitat For Humanity has partnered with Build With Strength—a coalition of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA)—to build up to 50 ICF homes in 50 states for Americans in need.
The Insulating Concrete Forms Manufacturers’ Association (ICFMA) have joined the effort and Logix, as an ICFMA member, will provide free and discounted Logix ICF materials, technical support, and training to about 10 of these projects over the next three years. Three of these projects are scheduled to take place in 2021 alone and they are located in Portland, ME, Des Moines, IA, and Rice Country, MN.
“This partnership enables the ICF and Ready Mix Concrete industries to support the very worthy Habitat For Humanity effort on a national level and gives us a great opportunity to set an example for how we should be building resilient communities across the country," says Andy Lennox, president of Logix Brands Ltd.
Thanks to the involvement of ICF, this year’s homes will be particularly strong, durable, and better suited to resist natural disasters, such as tornadoes, floods, fires, and earthquakes.
As a founding member of the ICFMA, Logix ICF is proud to join Habitat For Humanity on its mission to provide affordable yet resilient shelter to American families.
