In April of 2022, the High Performance Insulation Professionals (HPIP) are bringing the industry an Insulation Career Fair & Training Expo. And WC Publisher Jill Bloom and Associate Editor Hannah Belloli got the inside scoop on what you can expect to see at the event.
They sat down with Apryl Simmons, Apprenticeship & Credentialing Coordinator at Serrato Corporation, who serves as sort of an informal workforce liaison between HPIP and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Job Corp. program; Greg Kurdna, President at Henges Insulation—a contractor member of HPIP—who uses HPIP’s training program to train its employees; and Emily Bremmon, Operations Manager at HPIP, who oversees the contractor certification HPIP offers, their training events, and other contractor services.
Our guests talked about the goals of HPIP and the 2022 Insulation Career Fair & Training Expo, what attendees can expect, and who the Career Fair is tailored toward: everyone! As we all know by now, contractors just cannot find people to work for them. So that’s where HPIP steps in.
“We decided to create a hybrid event where it’s training mixed with the opportunity for job seekers to come and interview and network with local—or even employers who may be traveling and looking to hire people who are actively seeking jobs in this field and are also interested on getting training,” says Emily Bremmon.
They also discuss why the insulation industry is a good career choice. Not only is it year round work, but there is potential to make an incredible amount of money.
And good news for those looking to land a job sooner rather than later. Kudrna is hiring.
“I’ve got five open positions, so you don’t have the wait for the event to call me, you can come on board. That’s where we’re at.”
