Colleagues joined other industry professionals yesterday for the SFIA Annual Meeting to learn about new and improved tools, programs and benefits the association has rolled out in the past year. This year, the SFIA also took a few minutes to look back over the last 10 years and the important ways the steel framing industry has continued to evolve and grow.

This year’s special guest speaker was Gabrielle Bosche.

“Is your company one of the 78 percent of construction companies reporting trouble filling both salaried and craft positions?” Bosche asked. “And then keeping them once they're hired? The Great Hiring has been followed by The Great Resignation and leaders throughout the industry are left wondering: what are we doing wrong? The role we have played as employers has changed.”

In this session, we discovered how to quickly connect the purpose of our employees to the mission of our company—without adding another program or time-consuming training. Gabrielle identified what “impact” and “sustainability” means for each generation, how to lead the field, and how to never lose a great employee again.

Bosche is CEO of the research firm Millennial Solution and is herself a “Millennial.” Known as America’s “Millennial” expert, she has advised presidential campaigns, one-star Air Force generals, and corporate executives at Microsoft, Audi and Expedia. She is one of the most requested speakers on generational leadership and Millennial motivation.

She is the bestselling author of five books on her generation—including 5 Millennial Myths: The Handbook For Managing and Motivating Millennials and Keep Them Longer: How to Gain, Train and Retain Top Talent. Bosche has been featured everywhere from NPR, Sirius XM, SUCCESS, and Business Insider.

This special session provided important reports on research and technical developments that will impact virtually everyone in the steel framing industry.
