At a time when the roofing industry is still feeling the supply-chain crunch, California’s legal stance on independent contractors, including 70,000 truckers specifically could make things worse, says Legal Insights expert Trent Cotney, of Adams and Reese.

In this brief video, Cotney explains how the state’s labor ruling will have an impact on thousands of truckers that are critical to moving goods from the California coasts to the rest of the country. 

“This is not the time to be messing with this,” Cotney said, warning of the impact to the construction trades already coping with material shortages and project delays.
