A worker died last month after they plunged from a connector bridge at a construction site on the University of Virginia’s campus, according to Avery Donmoyer of The Cavalier Daily.
OSHA and the construction company are investigating the accident. Neither organization has released any information about the investigation.
“The entire Hourigan team extends our deepest condolences to the family and friends who lost a loved one, as well as all workers who were impacted by this unfortunate incident,” said Bryan Jones, president of Hourigan Group.
Brian Coy, a University of Virginia spokesperson, said the university is grieving along with everyone who knew the worker.
“Keeping university employees and contractors safe on the job is a core value here at University of Virginia, and we are working with all of our construction partners to review this incident and apply what we learn to improve workplace safety going forward,” Coy said.
