A scaffolding collapsed in Milford, Massachusetts, in late July, hurting four people, according to Jackson Cote of MassLive.
An emergency call was made around 2:15 p.m. that day, but an apparent language barrier between the caller and dispatcher led to the call being marked as a medical emergency at a construction site.
Police officers, firefighters and EMS responded to the call and saw four construction workers on scaffolding about 20 feet off the ground. Suddenly, the center of the scaffolding broke down and fell to the ground.
“They all came crashing to the ground once that gave way,” said Milford Police Chief John Sanchioni.
One worker was knocked unconscious from the fall but woke up before he was taken to the hospital for serious injuries. The other workers suffered less serious injuries but were also taken to the hospital.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident.
