House Education and the Workforce Committee Ranking Member Bobby Scott (D-VA) introduced the Workers Protecting Our Wage Earners’ Rights Act. The legislation seeks to increase the capacity and resources of the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division and Occupational Safety and Health Administration to investigate federal labor law violations related to wage theft, workplace safety, child labor and other violations. The bill would also expand WHD’s and OSHA’s performance, recruitment and relocation, and retention bonus programs to recruit and retain more inspectors.
