ClarkDietrich is giving framing contractors greater flexibility in leveraging the firestopping power of its BlazeFrame family of products with the introduction of BlazeFrame Tape.

Sold in rolls, BlazeFrame Tape is a 2-millimeter-thick strip of intumescent material that can be field-applied to metal framing profiles to provide an air and smoke seal. When exposed to heat above 375 degrees Fahrenheit, the intumescent material expands up to 35 times its size. This provides protection from heat and flame passage during a fire event.

When used in conjunction with the applicable BlazeFrame deflection tracks and BlazeFrame Perimeter L-Bead, BlazeFrame Tape is UL 2079 fifth edition-compliant with UL 2079 Class II or III (Movement Capabilities).

“We’ve had great success with BlazeFrame firestopping products since launching [them] in 2012,” said Ryan Reed, category manager at ClarkDietrich. “Now, we’re making it even easier for our customers to benefit from the added safety and labor savings of these technologies with BlazeFrame Tape. Field-applying BlazeFrame Tape gives contractors the ability to install a fire-rated joint before drywall is installed and delivers the same performance as our other BlazeFrame products.”

BlazeFrame Tape is available in 3/4-, 1- and 1 1/4-inch widths and features a peel-and-stick adhesive backing for easy application. Ordered through ClarkDietrich Clip Express, contractors can expect to have the product on-site within 24 hours of their order.
