Knight Wall Systems announced Jan. 25 that it has partnered with design software development company RIB to create a new specification section for cladding support systems within RIB’s SpecLink building specification platform.
Knight general manager Brian Nelson, who is also the Building Codes Committee co-chair for the Rainscreen Association in North America, collaborated with RIB on the new section, which works not only with Knight’s proprietary attachment system, but also other systems, with the intent to simplify and bring clarity to the market when specifying these products.
“We felt that creating this new section within the software would simplify the specification process even more than SpecLink already does,” Nelson said. “And we wanted it to accommodate all rainscreen attachment systems.”
The new specification section is 07 05 43 (Cladding Support Systems), which is officially recognized by the Construction Specifications Institute’s MasterFormat.
SpecLink enables the production of building specs up to 70 percent faster than conventional methods by speeding up editing tasks, improving spec coordination, minimizing errors and omissions, synchronizing specs with BIM models and easily transitioning from outline to short form to full specs.
