Five projects on which ATAS International products were installed have been selected as winners of the 2024 Metal Construction Association Design Awards. The MCA Design Awards are among the most prestigious awards in the metal construction industry and recognize member-companies involved in the construction of outstanding building projects that use metal in significant and innovative ways.
The first-place winner of the solar integration with metal category was BRIGHTSMITH Coaters of Morrisville, Pennsylvania. A total of 27,000 square feet of InSpire HP solar, air-heating panels were installed on the south-facing wall of the building. The high-performing panels were mounted a few inches from the building’s outer wall. The precision perforations in the wall panels allow outside air to travel through the face of the panel. Solar-heated air at the surface of the panel is drawn through the perforations, where it rises between the newly created plenum and enters the building’s central ventilation system or supply fan. InSpire HP will lower a building’s heating costs and carbon emissions.
The Scioto Peninsula in Columbus, Ohio, ranked first in the ribbed, single-skin wall panels category. Perforated Belvedere 7.2-inch Rib panels in black were installed by Wolfrum Roofing Exteriors. The architect was Moody-Nolan, and the distributor was ABC Supply Company. Belvedere 7.2-inch Rib wall panels are structural in nature and can be installed either on solid substrate or open framing. They offer design freedom for all types of buildings and can be installed vertically or horizontally with exposed fasteners.
Three other projects on which ATAS’ products were installed took second place. These were:
- Ribbed, single-skin wall panels category – Allen Street Apartments in Buffalo, New York – Opaline Reveal panels in matte black
- Metal roofing category – 6 Gates Avenue in Montclair, New Jersey – 1.5-inch Field Lock panels in black (the project also used ATAS’ CastleTop panels in ascot white, ash gray and charcoal gray, as wall cladding)
- Pre-engineered metal building category – Suffolk Punch Brewing in Charlotte, North Carolina – Corrugated Panel in titanium was used in a curved wall application
The winning projects will be displayed on the showroom floor at METALCON, which will take place at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta from Oct. 30 through Nov. 1.
