The Las Vegas police arrested a Pennsylvania contractor who is accused of defrauding New Jersey homeowners out of $140,000, reported Chris Spiker of Daily Voice Burlington County NJ.
The New Jersey police started investigating the contractor for fraud in April after homeowners and insurance companies filed complaints that the company was paid but did not do any work. The investigation found that the contractor was paid $140,307.03 to repair storm damage on five homes, but he kept the money instead.
An arrest warrant for the contractor was issued in August, but he was not collared until the Las Vegas police found him over a month later. He was charged as a fugitive from justice by the Las Vegas police and will be extradited back to New Jersey.
The contractor is the owner of Home Repair LLC in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, which has a one-star rating by the Better Business Bureau, along with 49 complaints.
“This company does not even deserve a 1 star!” said one review to the BBB. “They are HORRIBLE!! Gave them our deposit for our roof 3 years ago and kept getting told they were delayed.”
