The Department of Labor announced the latest cohort of Apprenticeship Ambassadors and recognized current ambassadors for meeting or exceeding their commitments to expand and diversify Registered Apprenticeships. The announcement included the addition of 138 new organizations, including the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and the Carpenters Training Institute, bringing the total number of Apprenticeship Ambassadors to 441. The list of previously approved Apprenticeship Ambassadors includes the North America’s Building Trades Unions, the Iron Workers, the Iron Workers Local 70 Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, and the Ohio Laborers Training and Apprenticeship Trust Fund. Apprenticeship Ambassadors help to modernize Registered Apprenticeships by making specific commitments to sponsor promotional and training activities, conducting outreach to people from underrepresented populations, launching Registered Apprenticeship Programs and hiring apprentices. To date, these organizations have held more than 10,800 promotional and outreach activities and 2,600 training sessions, established 520 Registered Apprenticeship programs and hired more than 150,000 apprentices.
