Construction Specialties expanded its newest evolution in sustainability to the entire line of Acrovyn Wall Covering.

Acrovyn with up to 50 percent post-consumer recycled content was introduced earlier this year in a limited number of products, including select woodgrains, brushed metals and sheet-based products, such as wall panels and doors. Now, CS has expanded its vision for a sustainable future by using post-consumer recycled content throughout the entire product finish portfolio. This includes all sheet-based products, ADS (face panels), wall panels and dimensional moldings. Currently, CS is the only manufacturer in the wall protection category to offer products with post-consumer recycled content.

CS launched the product line in 1969 to help hospital administrators with the seemingly endless cycle of hospital wall repair. Acrovyn quickly became known for its durability, cleanability and impact resistance. Since then, CS has continuously worked to improve the processes and materials used in its products.

This iteration of Acrovyn possesses the same performance characteristics as previous offerings yet consists of up to 50 percent post-consumer recycled content. The recycled content derives from recycled water bottles and other food-grade plastic items (PET), which are chemically re-processed into PETG.

Proven Industry Leadership

This innovation and expansion maintain the standing of CS as a leader in product sustainability; from being the first manufacturer to create PVC-free wall protection to leading in the use of post-consumer recycled content. Focusing efforts on human and climate health, CS has maintained performance characteristics while enhancing materials and leading to better outcomes for all.

In addition to post-consumer recycled content, CS’s PVC-Free Acrovyn Sheet products have Environmental Product Declarations, Health Product Declarations, Cradle to Cradle certification and Intertek Clean Air Gold certification to help contribute to green building goals. These additional declarations and certifications can be viewed on the mindful MATERIALS portal.
