Morning commuters in an Arizona town faced delays when a tractor-trailer carrying drywall lost its load on State Route 347 in Metro Phoenix. The incident, which occurred in late February, required at least three tow trucks to clear the spilled material, according to InMaricopa’s Editorial Director, Elias Weiss.
The slowdown persisted after a construction crew’s trailer overturned in the median near Casa Blanca Road in Maricopa around 7 a.m. Despite the disruption, both the Gila River Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety confirmed they did not respond to the scene. It remains unclear if any official agency was involved, frustrating some commuters.
“You’re telling me that y’all are driving slow as [heck] this morning on the 347 and making everyone late to work because you wanted to stare at a pile of trash that fell off a truck coming southbound into Maricopa?” questioned a baffled Autumn Tischauser from The Villages.
Private workers quickly stepped in to remove the debris. Two tow trucks loaded with drywall left the area while a third was still being filled. Within a few hours, southbound traffic had returned to normal.
