Stucco is a very versatile material that can be applied to just about any structure, with just about any sheathing, and can accommodate flat or curved surfaces either externally or internally.

Ultra Drain Mat, Plastic Component’s Drainage/Ventilation System for most exterior cladding systems, meets the IBC for water resistant barriers. Its 2-ply channel allows for moisture drainage, and accelerates drying of exterior cladding. Durable 0.25” or 0.40” thick polymer material prevents condensation, and resists moisture intrusion, corrosive chemicals, mold and mildew.

The proposal is for inclusion in both the International Building and Residential Codes. 

The 2021 IBC has now been published, and with it came some significant changes/improvements for stucco assemblies over wood-based sheathing.
