Two new public spaces in the Versailles Pavilion Dufour shine with detailed gold Escale 5x1 from GKD as part of a redevelopment project designed by French architect, Dominique Perrault. Among the classic stone and wood materials, is an awe-inspiring golden ceiling made of shimmering, golden metal fabric. The metal mesh dresses the entryway, where visitors begin their tour, making a strong architectural statement. Then, throughout the gallery gold Escale creates a modern accent that contrasts beautifully against a natural palette.

Just as architects and designers rely on sketches and 3-D renderings to visualize an unbuilt project’s aesthetics, a new auralization experience from CertainTeed can help specifiers design on an auditory level. The CertainTeed Listening Lounge, a virtual demonstration sound modeling tool located at the company’s new headquarters in Malvern, Pennsylvania, lets the specifier hear how ceiling design, materials and product specifications can affect the acoustics of a space.

Located 40 minutes from Vancouver, British Columbia, the City of Surrey’s Guildford Recreation Centre features a new 112,000-square-foot aquatic center. University of Toronto Scarborough Campus’ (UTSC’s) new $52.5 million Environmental Science & Chemistry Building (ESCB) welcomed its first students in fall of 2015.
