Armstrong World Industries announced that it has acquired 3form, LLC, a leading brand in the building products industry and an innovator in sustainably crafted architectural resins for ceiling and wall applications.

Associated Builders and Contractors reported Dec. 12 that its Construction Backlog Indicator inched up to 8.5 months in November from 8.4 months in October, according to an ABC member survey conducted from Nov. 20 to Dec. 4.

McShane Construction Company has been selected by repeat client Flournoy Development Group to build a 262-unit multifamily community in Greenville, South Carolina. The development will integrate five four-story residential buildings, a clubhouse and a maintenance building.

The construction industry added 2,000 jobs on net in November, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data released Dec. 8 by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. On a year-over-year basis, industry employment has increased by 200,000 jobs, an increase of 2.6 percent.

For the first time, Georgia was named the top state for construction in Associated Builders and Contractors’ annual Merit Shop Scorecard.

Cement production and processes emit over 5 percent of all carbon dioxide emitted by human activity. Reducing that environmental impact is a high priority among cement producers. Cement producers are now publishing their Environmental, Social and Governance credentials concerning energy use in their operations, greenhouse gas emissions and water usage.

Based on the quantitative survey of professionals, students, elected representatives and association members in 22 countries, the survey measures what’s required to promote sustainable construction in the U.S. and around the world.
