A recent announcement from the office of New York City Mayor Eric Adams has pushed adaptive reuse architecture back into the spotlight — specifically the reuse of empty commercial office space as affordable and market-rate housing.
The Minnesota Zoo Treetop Trail, the world’s longest elevated pedestrian loop, is now officially open to the public. The 1.25-mile walkway, made by adapting a monorail structure, takes guests up to 32 feet above the ground to gain new perspectives of the zoo’s many animals, including tigers, moose, bison and camels.
