Ultra Drain Mat, Plastic Components’ rainscreen system for exterior cladding, drains moisture away and accelerates drying inside the wall cavity. Made of a durable 0.25- or 0.40-inch chemical-resistant polymer mesh, it prevents condensation and moisture intrusion and meets the International Building Code for water-resistant barriers.
Walls & Ceilings speaks with Buck Buchanan, author and EIFS veteran, about his latest book “Behind the Wall: The People Who Built the EIFS Industry 1969-2019.”
Ultra Drain Mat, Plastic Component’s Drainage/Ventilation System for most exterior cladding systems, meets the IBC for water resistant barriers. Its 2-ply channel allows for moisture drainage, and accelerates drying of exterior cladding. Durable 0.25” or 0.40” thick polymer material prevents condensation, and resists moisture intrusion, corrosive chemicals, mold and mildew.
The panels were used as exterior wall cladding on this 166-foot-tall building consisting of 10 stories (a two-story base, and an eight-story tower). They were installed by Tuschall Engineering of Burr Ridge, IL, and the architects for the project included Diller Scofidio + Renfro of New York City, and Brininstool + Lynch of Chicago. This project was the first-place winner in ATAS’ 2020 Project of the Year competition, in the commercial walls category.
The Metal Construction Association has released three updated Environmental Product Declarations to provide key data on the manufacturing and use of metal cladding products.
