On May 1, the International Code Council kicked off the 43rd annual Building Safety Month. The campaign raises awareness about the importance of building codes and the role that building safety professionals play in keeping our communities safe.

The International Code Council has selected Jack Applegate, a building official for Northwest Code Professionals in Eugene, Ore., to receive the 2018 ICC Raising the Profile Award.

This May join a diverse coalition of corporations, nonprofits, government agencies and professionals in the building industry to support the 38th annual Building Safety Month. Presented by the International Code Council, this global campaign reminds us of the importance of building codes in protecting our families and communities.

Officials with the International Code Council announced the theme “Building Codes Save Lives,” will be used for May’s events.
