Labor productivity is the central economic engine that drives profitability for labor-intensive, self-performing contractors. FMI’s 2023 Labor Productivity Study found that contractors experienced approximately $30 billion to $40 billion in lost profits due to labor inefficiencies in 2022.

Given their name, it’s completely reasonable to assume that rainscreens are a key part of waterproofing buildings. Truth is, rainscreens do play a crucial role in waterproofing buildings by employing a multi-layered approach to managing moisture intrusion. But they don’t do it all.

Prefab construction is here, and it’s happening. The combination of a severe labor shortage and extreme shortfalls in housing supply is driving a renewed interest in prefabricated construction as a more cost-efficient alternative to traditional building.
