Larsen Products Corp. has been honored with the Excellence in Construction Quality Award by the Association of Wall and Ceiling Industry (AWCI). Larsen Products’ bonding agents were a component in the reconstruction of St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica in Galveston, Texas. The project won top honor in the Historic Renovation category.
Damaged during Hurricane Ike, a tropical cyclone that wrought havoc on parts of Texas in 2008, St. Mary’s Cathedral underwent major renovations over a period of six years. The restoration of the Cathedral, a state and national historic landmark, was praised by Reverend Joseph Limanni, special director of the archdiocese, as “first-rate”, indicating that St. Mary’s is one of the architecturally most significant structures in town.
“We are proud to receive this award from the AWCI,” said Jeff Larsen, president of Larsen Products. “We are quite pleased that our products assisted in the renovation of this structure, a building with such historical significance, without compromising the architectural integrity of the original.”
