Sponsored by the Gypsum Association, Evaluation Report ESR-1338 has been reissued by ICC Evaluation Service LLC, (ICC-ES). The reissued report will remain valid until February 2016.
The report indicates compliance with the 2015, 2012, and 2009, International Building Code and the 2015, 2012, and 2009 International Residential Code. As a result of the revision of ESR-1338, the recently released Fire Resistance Design Manual (GA-600-2015) is an acceptable source of fire-resistance and sound-control systems.
“I am pleased that the public release of GA-600-2015 and the revision of ESR-1338 could occur, essentially, in tandem," said GA Executive Director Stephen H. Meima, MBA, APR, LEED Green Assoc. "The new manual contains an expanded variety of generic gypsum systems with which architects, specifiers, and code officials will want to familiarize themselves and use."
As ICC-ES President Shahin Moinian explains, "Building departments have a long history of using evaluation reports, and ICC-ES operates as a technical resource with the highest quality of product review for the building department." Final approval of building products and systems is always in the hands of the local regulatory agency.
