Last week HPIP wrapped up its final training of 2018. This training was unique to any other training HPIP has ever had. We were joined by 60 Long Beach Job Corps students, several contractors from California, as well as instructors from two separate Job Corps locations, San Diego and Pittsburgh. Students were attentive during the morning classroom sessions and learned valuable industry information, but highly anticipated the hands-on training and one-on-one time with the instructors in the afternoon.
During the hands-on session, students, contractors, and Job Corps instructors were trained on Machinery Safety, Blower Door, Blow-in Wall and Density, Grade I Batt Installation, and EcoSeal. Each of these sessions were instructed by experienced professionals from Knauf Insulation, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed Machine Works.
A distinctive element of each training HPIP holds at a Job Corps location, is the end of our training day where contractors have the opportunity to interview students. Employers from Home Insulation Masters and Guardian Insulation had discussions with 23 Job Corps students about potential job opportunities upon completion of their coursework in the next few weeks.
Thank you to the Long Beach Job Corps for hosting HPIP at our final training of 2018 and helping us work to close the labor shortage gap. Thank you to our HPIP instructors for their time and dedication put into each training. Thank you to Guardian Insulation for their support and sponsoring training equipment necessary for this event. We look forward to hosting more successful trainings like Long Beach in 2019.
