National Gypsum Co. is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2025. The company piggy-backs on this year’s BUILD25 Show in its local Charlotte. Founded in 1925, the company has grown from a single product line into a comprehensive provider of innovative construction solutions.
"As we gather at this year’s AWCI BUILD25 Convention & Expo in our hometown of Charlotte, I find myself reflecting on the role that partnership has played in shaping National Gypsum’s long history," said Vice President of Sales and Marketing Scott Crutchfield. "The most remarkable part of the story is not how much has changed since 1925, but how much has stayed the same.
National Gypsum Company was founded by three ambitious entrepreneurs: Melvin H. Baker, Joseph F. Haggerty, and Clarence E. Williams. When their former company folded, they came together and seized an opportunity to do things differently. They started a company built around a superior product, constant innovation, and strong relationships – all in the service of partners.
"That foundation still guides the company today. It’s this commitment to partnership that has enabled us to thrive in good times and bad," Crutchfield said. "Guided by our commitment to high-touch service and high-quality products, National Gypsum and our people will always deliver for a changing world."
To commemorate BUILD25 and its 100th anniversary, the manufacturer lit the Uptown Charlotte skyline purple as a tribute to National Gypsum and its partners. This moment is both a celebration and a recommitment to the values that define National Gypsum. "Whether you have worked with National Gypsum for decades or are just getting to know us, we are grateful for your business," said Crutchfield. "Here’s to the next 100 years."
